SANKOFA

SANKOFA: A Film of Moving Paintings, a short film showcased at Sankofa Square (formerly Yonge-Dundas Square) in Toronto during Black History Month in February 2025.

This film, written by Komi Olaf and produced by Alkebulan Pictures with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, reinterprets themes of emancipation and self-determination through Afro-surrealist imagery, blending metaphor, symbolism, and cultural commentary to address ideas of decolonization through the lens of Afrofuturism.
